CLOWN – PINK SKUNK PAIR AQUACULTURED Amphiprion perideraion

$99.99$149.99

The Pink Skunk Clownfish, also known as the Pink Skunk Anemonefish, is found from northern Australia to Melanesia. These clownfish are unique in coloration, sporting a peach-orange body, with a single broad white stripe behind the eye and a white stripe along the dorsal side of the body in which its name “skunk” is derived. Clownfish are well known for their interesting symbiotic relationships with anemones, making them a must-have addition to almost all marine aquariums. Given the wide distribution of the Pink skunk clownfish, it’s a generalist when it comes to host anemone species. Some of these include Bubble Tip (Entacmaea sp.), Long Tentacle (Macrodactyla sp.), Sebae (Heteractis sp.), and the Pink skunk clownfish is one of the few clownfish species that will also use a Carpet anemone (Stichodactyla sp.). Host anemones provide clownfish with protection and a site for nest building, while the anemone also benefits from its clownfish host in many ways. Interestingly, all clownfish are born male and the most dominant individual in the group will change to female, a process known as hermaphroditism. Pink skunk clownfish are one of the smaller clownfish species, with females getting larger than males, obtaining a size of approximately 4″.

General Description: The Pink Skunk Clownfish, also known as the Pink Skunk Anemonefish, is found from northern Australia to Melanesia. Pink skunk clownfish are one of the smaller clownfish species, with females getting larger than males, obtaining a size of approximately 4″.

Diet Requirements: Pink skunk clownfish are naturally omnivores. A balanced diet of both frozen meaty items, such as mysis shrimp or enriched brine shrimp, and algae, such as Spirulina or Chlorella, is ideal. They will also readily accept high quality marine flake and pellet foods. Feeding small meals several times throughout the day will help reproduce their natural feeding behaviors on the reef, but is not absolutely necessary for this clownfish to thrive.

Care Requirements: Pink skunk clownfish are a relatively hardy fish that is well suited to the conditions found in home aquariums. Furthermore, the majority of our clownfish are sourced from captive-raised facilities, meaing that they are not collected from the wild. Therefore, clownfish make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike. A minimum 15 gallon aquarium is recommended for a pair of Pink skunk clownfish, however these fish can thrive in larger aquariums. Clownfish enjoy a variety of rock work and crevices to swim through and take refuge, especially for their anemone host to attach its foot securely. Their overall peaceful nature makes them an excellent choice to keep with almost all other community fish, invertebrates, and corals. We do not recommend keeping more than one pair of clownfish per aquarium, even in larger systems. We do not recommend mixing different genera of clownfish together. If you want to try to have a harem (8+) of one clownfish species or different species of Amphiprion together, it is best to add them all at once for the best chance at success and ensure the system can accomodate such numbers. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
