General Description: The Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnow, also referred to as simply the Gold White Cloud, is a selectively bred color morph of the standard wild-type White Cloud (Tanichthys albonubes). One of the most popular fish for beginner hobbyists and even for the established community tank, Gold white clouds have a simplistic beauty to them. A Gold white cloud has a yellow-gold body and red in its caudal and dorsal fins. Males will be slightly more intense in coloration than females (e.g., caudal fin). Gold white clouds are natural schooling fish, thriving best with at least 8 individuals but more are encouraged. An adult Gold white cloud can reach a size of approximately 1″.
Diet Requirements: Gold white clouds are omnivores. Offer a diet made up of various high quality vegetable based and protein based flake foods, sinking micro pellet foods and bug bites are ideal, in addition to offering frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp and daphnia. Variety is the spice of life in order to maintain color, immune function and longevity of your fish.
Care Requirements: A minimum 5 to 10 gallon aquarium is ideal for a small group of Gold white clouds. Gold white clouds are one of our listed “hardy fish” because they are able to endure the initial break-in cycle of a newly set-up aquarium. Additionally, Gold white clouds are one of the few tropical species that can also thrive in cooler water temperatures as low as 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Coupled with their peaceful demeanor, Gold white clouds are a great choice to add variety to a goldfish aquarium. Aquascaping the aquarium with live plants, driftwood and other natural-looking arrangements will bring out the beauty of this fish and provide them with security. A darker substrate could show their coloration better. Given their peaceful temperament, Gold white clouds cannot compete with overly boisterous species and will thrive best in an environment with like tank mates. Recommended water conditions, 60-78° F, KH 5-20, pH 6.0-8.0.
