General Description: The Green War Paint Clown Goby, also referred to as simply the Green Clown Goby, has a wide distribution across the Indo-Pacific. A small, very peaceful fish with unparalleled personality to match as it hops across the live rock, the Green war paint clown goby is turquoise-green in color with red markings on its face and throughout its body. There is considerable variation among individual color vibrancy. A Green war paint clown goby can reach an adult size of approximately 1-3/4″.
Diet Requirements: The Green war paint clown goby is primarily carnivorous. A diet largely consisting of high quality, vitamin enriched frozen preparations is absolutely necessary to maintain optimal health, coloration, and immune function. Such foods can include, but are not limited to, brine shrimp, calanus, cyclopeeze and rotifers. We highly encourage soaking frozen foods in vitamin and fatty acid supplements. Multiple, small feedings per day rather than one large feeding will also create more of a natural environment for this goby as it would feed in the wild. A clown goby may accept high quality flake and micro-pellet foods.
Care Requirements: A minimum 10 gallon aquarium is ideal to house a Green war paint clown goby. Spending most of its time on the live rock, this goby will appreciate some type of aquascape. Do not house clown gobies with overly aggressive and pugnacious tank-mates. Green war paint clown gobies are often selected for reef tanks, but caution should be taken when introducing a clown goby to a SPS dominated aquarium. In the wild, Green war paint clown gobies consume the mucous of Acropora but may also do so to other small-polyp stony corals. Typically only one Green war paint goby is suggested per aquarium, unless it is large enough to accomodate territories of three or more individuals. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
