General Description: The Black Bar Chromis is native to the western Pacific ocean. They are cream to yellow in coloration with a distinctive vertical black bar where the body meets the tail with a blue accent ring around the black eyes. A small variety of Chromis, adults will reach 2 inches in length.
Diet Requirements: This Chromis is naturally an omnivore so it is ideal to provide a balanced diet of both meaty items such as mysis shrimp or enriched brine shrimp and algae, such as Spirulina, Chlorella, and marine sheet algae. They will also readily accept high quality marine flake and pellet foods.
Care Requirements: These are one of the more peaceful of all the damselfish species, and can make a hardy addition to both reef and fish only aquariums with live rock to hide in. They can be maintained alone in small aquariums of at least 30 gallons or more. For a group of these fishes it is important to ensure they have adequate space in an aquarium at least four feet in length. They are reef safe, and will not bother coral polyps or other invertebrates. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
