General Description: The Sexy Anemone Shrimp, or simply known as the Sexy Shrimp, originates from waters of the Indo-Pacific. Sporting a reddish color with brilliant white spots, Sexy shrimp are named after their behavior. When they move, their abdomen sways around with flare. This charm makes them a fun addition to a marine aquarium. In the wild, these shrimp take up residence among tentacles of anemones. In home aquaria this symbiotic relationship may be mimicked, but typically they’re found perched on the edge of a coral frag or live rock. What Sexy shrimp lack in size (1″ full grown), they make up with their vast, fearless personalities as they strut around the aquarium. Sexy shrimp will thrive best when kept in small groups of 3 or more individuals.
Diet Requirements: Feed a varied diet of high quality flake and frozen foods, with an emphasis on meaty foods.
Tank Requirements: An established, minimum aquarium size of 15 gallons is recommended to house a group of Sexy shrimp. Maintaining stable water parameters is a component to the success of keeping this invertebrate; these shrimp are intolerable of high nitrates. Regular water changes are necessary to replenish iodine that is important for the proper molting of Sexy shrimp. Although the care level of Sexy shrimp is relatively easy, time should be taken to acclimate in order to avoid pH and salinity shock. Do not house Sexy shrimp with other boisterous and aggressive invertebrate or fish species that may consume or harm them. Recommended water conditions: 76-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.024-1.026.
