General Description: The Cerith Snail is a small species with an enormous appetite for algae and scavenging. Reaching a size of 1.5″, the Cerith snail has a beautiful spiral shell and is very adept at keeping your live rock clean. This snail may also be found burrowing in the substrate, which aerates it in the process for an overall healthier environment. This snail is surely a welcomed and dynamic addition to any invertebrate clean up crew.
Diet Requirements: Cerith snails are omnivores. They consume various algae on the glass and live rock, in addition to scavenging on detritus, uneaten food, and other decaying organic matter.
Tank Requirements: An established, minimum aquarium size of 10 gallons is recommended to house Cerith snails. Maintaining stable water parameters is a component to the success of keeping this invertebrate; snails are intolerable of high nitrates. Generous live rock with some crevices will mimic the Cerith snail’s natural environment and give it space to roam. Keeping several individuals of Cerith snail are encourged given their size. It is imperative to take time acclimating Cerith snails; we suggest via drip acclimation over an hour or more. Recommended water conditions: 76-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.024-1.026.
