General Description: The Bumblebee Snail is surely one of the more striking snails available for marine aquariums. Reaching a size of less than 1″, the Bumblebee snail’s shell makes a striking statement with pronounced black and yellow bands. This snail is praised for its ability to fit into small or tight spaces, cleaning away detritus. Bumblebee snails will also burrow in your sandbed, making for an overall healthier environment because this aerates the substrate.
Diet Requirements: Bumblebee snails are carnivores. They consume various foods in the sandbed and off of the live rock, such as detritus, uneaten food, and other decaying organic matter.
Tank Requirements: An established, minimum aquarium size of 10 gallons is recommended to house Bumblebee snails. Maintaining stable water parameters is a component to the success of keeping this invertebrate; snails are intolerable of high nitrates. Generous live rock with some crevices will mimic the Bumblebee snail’s natural environment and give it space to roam. Keeping several individuals of Bumblebee snail are encourged given their size. It is imperative to take time acclimating Bumblebee snails; we suggest via drip acclimation over an hour or more. Bumblebee snails are listed to add “with caution” to a reef environment because given that they are carnivores, if insufficient food is present, they can resort to predating on other invertebrates in the aquarium. Recommended water conditions: 76-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.024-1.026.
