GOBY – PYGMY RING-EYE Trimma benjamini
$59.99
The Pygmy Ring-Eye Goby, also referred to as the Ring-Eye Trimma Goby, are found inhabiting coastal and outer reef slopes of up to 90 meters deep in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean. Here, they cling to the sides of ledges and overhangs. This specific niche in the wild may make the Pygmy Ring-Eye goby difficult to collect, as it is infrequently encountered within the aquarium trade making it a somewhat rare and desirable addition for the nano fish enthusiast. Despite its very small adult size of 1″, the Pygmy Ring-Eye goby packs a punch with personality and coloration. They have an elongated body that is red in color and a pair of large eyes that have a white ring around them. Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies are extremely peaceful, making them great candidates for nano aquariums and community reef tanks. Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies tend to do best when kept in pairs or small groups, which can include other Trimma goby species, but all individuals should be added at the same time for the best chance of success.

General Description: The Pygmy Ring-Eye Goby, also referred to as the Ring-Eye Trimma Goby, are found inhabiting coastal and outer reef slopes of up to 90 meters deep in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean. Diet Requirements: Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies are primarily carnivores, feeding on small organisms suspended in the water column and off of the live rock. A diet largely consisting of high quality, vitamin enriched frozen preparations is absolutely necessary to maintain optimal health, coloration, and immune function. Such foods can include, but are not limited to, brine shrimp, calanus, cyclopeeze and rotifers. Frozen food mixes that include algae such as Spirulina and Chlorella are desired. We highly encourage soaking frozen foods in vitamin and fatty acid supplements. Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies may accept high quality flake and micro-pellet foods. This species would benefit from feedings twice a day.
Care Requirements: A minimum 10 to 15 gallon aquarium is ideal to house a Pygmy Ring-Eye goby, but they can thrive in larger aquariums. This species should not be introduced into a biologically immature aquarium. Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies enjoy a variety of rock work and crevices to hop around on and take refuge if needed. Do not house Pygmy Ring-Eye gobies with overly aggressive and pugnacious tank mates, or predatory fish that could eat them. Gobies of this size can also sometimes fall victim to reef lobsters and larger pistol shrimp species. A Pygmy Ring-Eye goby would feel most at home in a reef aquarium, and they will not harm any invertebrate or coral. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
