General Description: The Linear Blenny is also known as the Lined Blenny or Lined Combtooth Blenny. Native to the Indo-west Pacific, ranging from the eastern coast of Africa to the Philippines. The lower half of the body is white and the upper half is brown to black in coloration. They are a smaller blenny species, reaching 3.5 inches in length adults.
Diet Requirements: The diet of the Linear Blenny should include vegetable matter, including frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae such as Spirulina, Chlorella. It will also feed on (and help control) nuisance algae growing in the aquarium and on live rock.
Care Requirements: The Linear Blenny requires a tank of at least 30 gallons with scattered rocks for perching and hiding. Generally found amid crevices and rocks towards the bottom of its environment. These fishes are peaceful tank members, and they should not be housed with aggressive species that may intimidate these fish into hiding. They can make a good addition to a reef aquarium, but use caution in smaller set ups, or with small/young colonies of SPS corals as they may damage Acropora sp. and Montipora sp. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
