General Description: The Evansi Anthias is also known as the Yellowtail Goldie, Yellowback or Evan’s Anthias. This species is native to the Indian Ocean, including the Maldives and Sri Lanka.. It is predominantly violet-pink, the flanks are sprinkled with yellow dots, and an orange line runs laterally from nose to pectoral fin. Evansi Anthias reach an adult size of approximately 4 inches.
Diet Requirements: In the wild Anthias feed on zooplankton and occur in areas with strong currents such as reef faces, slopes, drop off zones. In the aquarium they do best when fed a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and over time may begin to feed upon high-quality flake foods and pellets offered in small quantities throughout the day.Â
Care Requirements: If keeping more than one Evansi, it is best to have one male with several females in a minimum 125 gallon aquarium. If kept alone, a 75 gallon aquarium is sufficient. They can be a demanding species best for more advanced aquarists. These fish are sensitive to stress and prone to disease with bad water quality and require appropriate care. With a peaceful nature, this fish does well with other non-aggressive fish of the same variety. They make a beautiful addition to the peaceful fish-only marine aquarium as well as the mixed reef aquarium. To best recreate a natural reef environment for the Evansi Anthias, aquascape with a generous amount of live rock and create slopes, caves, and overhangs for an interesting and diverse reef aquarium landscape. They are considered reef safe and will not bother coral or other invertebrates. Recommended water conditions, 72-78° F, KH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025.
